As mentioned in a previous post, I'm now certified in QuickBooks Online. One of the perks of being certified is that I'm now able to offer clients wholesale pricing for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Payroll, which is half of the retail price. Can't believe I've been in business for 20 years now!
Started out with young children running around and now they're mostly grown, two out of the house and one hardly ever home.
Started out as a secretarial service and now I only offer bookkeeping/money management services.
Started out working only from my home office and now I go to clients' offices or homes, as well.
Started out not knowing much about running my own business and now I help others start their own businesses.
What a ride!

Here's a synopsis of a good article I read about the
Pros and Cons of starting a home-based business:

Pro: You are your own boss.

Con: You are also your own accountant, marketer, tech support, customer service representative, and custodian.

Pro: Balanced career and family life.

Con: The scale can easily tip toward home responsibilities.

Pro: Increased tax benefit and write-offs.

Con: No health insurance benefits unless you pay out of pocket.

Con: You may miss the interaction with coworkers.

Pro: Increased income potential.

Con: No set income.

Starting a home-based business is not the right choice for everyone. Carefully weigh your options before you decide to take on this challenge.
