It was hearing those words from Senator David Pryor (in quote below) while the Clinton Presidential Center inauguration on CNN, that sent chills across my body and alerted me to a new path that I needed to pursue.
During my time as a member of inaugural class Clinton School of Public Service, I realized that I wasn't cut out for politics, but in having this amazing human being as a role model and mentor, I learned how to be a servant leader.
While at the ESG Adria Summit in Montenegro last week, Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar, PhD, mentioned the distinction between a "politician" and a "statesman". "A politician works toward the next election, while a statesman works for the future."
David Pryor epitomized the definition of statesman and my life will never be the same for having had the chance to learn from him. Thank you for producing this beautiful soul, Arkansas. May his memory live on!
Senator David Pryor, founding Dean of the Clinton School of Public Service, passed away on Saturday at the age of 89.
