Fund Objective: Asset Solutions (AS) investment objective is long-term capital appreciation with a focus on capital preservation. Philosophy: AS believes that limiting losses is as important to building capital as is maximizing gains. To accomplish this dual principle, AS employs an active money management strategy. If analysis indicates high stock market risk, AS moves assets from the stock mar
ket into more conservative investments, particularly bond or money market fund(s). Such a reallocation can limit the significant losses typical to stock retention during major stock market declines. In addition, at times we employ hedging techniques to help lower portfolio volatility and market risk. Ever conscious of the company’s objective and the client’s interest, AS invests in funds that are pools of securities, namely exchange-traded funds (“ETFs”) and mutual funds. Investment Strategies: The firm’s disciplined approach utilizes technical, cyclical and fundamental analysis. AS constantly monitors the business cycle to evaluate market risk and determine which asset classes have the highest odds of performing well. AS may use this information to invest in certain market sectors that it feels are providing superior risk-adjusted returns. As a result, client accounts may not be diversified and could even be invested in only one or a few market sectors/asset classes. Trending analysis and market action/behavior is used to determine the trend and strength of the stock market as well as market sectors. This analysis is used to determine how much risk we will assume, and which sectors/asset classes we will invest. In certain situations where weak sectors or markets are identified, AS may invest client assets in short funds. AS manages risk by exiting positions when it believes that potential portfolio gains are not sufficient to justify the potential risk of loss. AS constantly adjusts the mix of assets as markets rise and fall and the economy strengthens and weakens. When AS has not identified (to its satisfaction) areas of the market in which it feels comfortable investing, whether long or short, AS may invest portions or all of clients assets in cash or cash equivalents for capital preservation.
