To expense or not to expense. Good rule of thumb: $2,500 or more= capitalize. You can reverse this as bonus depreciation if you prefer either immediately or at end of year. Keeps NOI realistic, especially if you ever intend to sell your business. NOI in quickbooks should equal adjusted EBITDA, and often businesses try to sell for a multiple of EBITDA. Me, I'd prefer to buy a business for a multiple of adjusted FreeCashFlow.

Can your bookkeeper explain to you your balance sheet? I sure hope so. Incorrect balance sheet numbers means incorrect prior or current period income or expenses, which in turn means missed... or extra taxes. Applies to cash or accrual filers alike.

If you have QB Online and aren't utilizing Melio, dedicated email receipt capture, payroll integrations, projects, classes, budget vs actuals reports or document sharing... do yourself a favor and look into them. Most are likely offered with your current subscription and could be game changers for either better process flow or financial health checks. Both save time and money!
