This is just an FYI for anyone who is on Medicare. Last year's trend of cutting out some of the additional benefits that Medicare Advantage plans offer is expected to continue. Dental, vision and hearing coverage will likely be reduced or eliminated, gym memberships and transportation benefits will also be discontinued. Copays and premiums will likely increase.

I know I’ve been MIA in the community lately, but here is proof that I’m still around and doing amazing things! Thanks to Addison and Aetna for the opportunity to get out and engage with people about Medicare! It was nice seeing so many familiar faces! And thanks to Neil Orchard Senior Center for the annual senior health fair! It’s a great opportunity to find the resources that you need!

I haven't been out in the community as much this year, so it was great being out at the Lincoln Village Senior Health Fair last week. Thank you to Addison for helping with the set up and take down and for taking the pic. It was nice to see all the familiar faces that I have been missing for the past several months. And the weather was PERFECT!!!

📢 Important Medicare Update for 2026

In March 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began reissuing new Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) numbers for approximately 1.3 million beneficiaries.

This change is likely in response to recent data security concerns and is designed to protect beneficiary information, prevent claim denials and ensure uninterrupted Medicare coverage

📬 If you receive a new card: DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!
• Start using your new MBI immediately
• Share it with your healthcare providers
• Safely dispose of your old card

🔔 Effective April 14, 2026, affected individuals will begin using their new Medicare cards with updated MBI numbers.

I like the idea of taking the whole person into consideration when it comes to how medicine is practiced. In that regard, this looks promising! It will be interesting to see how this progresses, what the data collected will reflect and how the data will be used to impact the future of medicine.

I know there is a lot of fraud when it comes to DME, but I also know that sometimes patients wait days to weeks to get their DME after being released from a hospital or facility due to having a stroke. I'm all for finding the fraud, but I hope it's not at the cost of the patients.

The government plans a six-month moratorium on supplier enrollment in the Medicare program to find ways to stop what it called “longstanding instances of fraud, waste, and abuse” by certain companies.

Interesting insight about the ACA subsidies. I really like the idea of being able to deduct medical expenses from your taxes. I don't even think that needs to be discussed. We are the only country where people will lose everything because of a medical diagnosis. Tax deductions would be very helpful.

Several proposals are floating around Washington but will any of them become law?
