Meaning: Cognitive, pertaining to knowledge or knowing.

Notes: Today's word has slipped out of the realm of philosophy into the practical vocabularies of investments and marketing. It comes with an adverb, epistemically, and two nouns, referring to the study and theories of knowledge, epistemics and epistemology. Episteme refers to what is accepted as intellectually certain knowledge in a given period.

In Play: Epistemic is a formal way to express "about knowledge": "We are still exploring the epistemic potentialities of artificial intelligence (AI)". We probably shouldn't allow it into the general vocabulary in sentences like this: "Herman had a high epistemic threshold of the bank robbery since he was in the bank at the time it occurred.'

Several state-owned buildings in downtown Sacramento have been selected as potential affordable housing sites. Organizations operating out of these buildings will be relocated in 2025.

This move comes as part of an executive order Gov. Gavin Newsom issued in 2019, which requires officials to identify excess state-owned property that could be turned into affordable housing. https://bit.ly/3Yj0ovd

The Servant Leader Intern summer position is a full time - 40 hours a week position for 6 weeks. Roberts Family Development Center in partnership with Children's Defense Fund Freedom School, will offer a 6-week summer enrichment program to empower children to excel and believe in their ability to make a difference in themselves, their families, communities, country and world with hope, education and action.
