If I could offer one piece of advice after all of my years in this business...it would be to seek out people you connect with. 💯

Instead of looking for the cheapest fees, the lowest rate, the flashiest message, choose someone who sees you as a person (not a commission check.) People who promise the "cheapest way" will give you the cheapest experience. You are worth more and deserve better (while still getting a competitive rate!)

Apparently, there are TWO kinds of oil… which is where my ‘Why are gas prices still so high?!’ investigation began.” ⛽😂

BTW - “I’m trying to do the heavy lifting for you by making complicated topics easier to understand…

So here’s what I learned after falling down an internet rabbit hole about gas prices:

The Quick Breakdown:
🛢️ California and Texas mostly produce “light sweet crude”
🛢️ The Middle East produces a lot of “heavy sour crude”
🛢️ Many U.S. refineries were originally built to refine heavy sour crude (not light and sweet)

Apparently oil has categories, personalities, and compatibility issues now. We can't refine the stuff we have a lot of. 😅

I know what you're thinking. “Well then let's just change the refineries!”
Sounds easy… until it became clear that changing would cost billions of dollars and take years to overhaul facilities built decades ago. Not a quick fix in any sense.

And even IF we changed the refineries… we’d still have the transportation problem. We have to be able to move ALOT of oil (we're not talking about trucks and trains) which leads to the next issues.

⛰️ Building pipelines over the Rockies? Extremely difficult and expensive.

🚢 Shipping oil from Texas to California? Basically a very expensive sightseeing cruise through the Panama Canal.

So even though the U.S. produces a TON of oil, getting the right type of oil to the right place at a reasonable cost is a whole different challenge.

And just when you think you’ve figured it out…
Oil prices are ALSO controlled by worldwide supply and demand. 🌎

Meaning:
If something happens halfway around the world, we all suddenly pay luxury vacation prices just to commute to work. 😂

At this point, I’m expecting the gas pump to ask:
“Would you like to finance this purchase over 84 months?” 😭

The more you learn about markets, the more you realize:

💯 Easy Start: Skip the stress of organizing and just pick a simple container you already have:

✔ A reusable grocery bag
✔ An empty Amazon box
✔ A tote or basket
✔ A paper bag tucked in a closet
✔ An old file bin (if you have one)

The goal isn’t pretty—it’s contained.

When everything has one place, it’s way easier to add to it as you go (and way less likely to turn into a mess on the counter).
