My friend Martha has expressed so well my views about how to be a leader of win-win advocacy and a force for good in this world. I was raised to think in these terms, for the most part, but I’m learning so much more these days about my unconscious white advantage from my black friends and spiritual leaders at Unity of Sacramento, especially Rev. Kevin Ross and Rev. Eric Donaldson.
I was raised to be “colorblind”, but unfortunately, that didn’t show me my own color’s advantage over others’—I never feared for my life if I was pulled over for a traffic violation, for example.
We must stop the inequities of our brothers and sisters based on color, as well as gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other prejudice based on fear or hatred..
As a nation we were founded by a document that stated our equal creation by God, and by God, it’s WAY beyond time we started acting like it!! Let Love and tolerance guide our actions always and in all ways! Amen.
