Keep Improving District Schools (KIDS)

Keep Improving District Schools (KIDS) They learned from teachers, principals, parents, administrators, government officials, architects, and finance experts. They toured schools in nearby districts.

A Citizens Facilities Committee, the predecessor to the KIDS’ committee, met for more than a year and half to study the state of our school facilities and what, if anything could be done. As a result, they recommended to the school board total replacement of the temporary portable buildings. The proposal is a bare-bones, cost-effective solution, devoid of frills or excesses. No athletic facilities or Central Office administrators’ facilities will be built.

General information

On May 14, voters will decide whether to issue $26.8 million of bonds to finance the building of a new school at Live Oak Learning Center and the renovation of the existing school at the Fulton Learning Center. The proposal calls for eliminating all temporary portable classroom buildings and replacing them with permanent classrooms. Student pickup and drop- off areas will be redesigned, security will be dramatically improved, and, at Live Oak, the students will have a new, combination cafeteria and auditorium room.
