Once officers arrived, they quickly detained the suspect matching the description. After speaking to several store employees and reviewing security camera footage, officers determined they had the right guy.

All five S*x Offenders who accidentally removed their GPS tracking ankle bracelets HOMELESS!

Riverside should increase their homeless programs and put up with more unsanitary / environmental terrorist bum conduct. Maybe Riverside can attract more of these heroes!

LOCAL TRANSIENT ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING

On Saturday, September 12, 2020 around 8:00 a.m., officers responded to the University Towers apartments, located in the 3500 block of Iowa Avenue, regarding a possible attempted child abduction. When they arrived, officers quickly found the uncooperative suspect nearby and safely detained him.

They learned an 11-year-old female juvenile walked to the garbage enclosure of the apartment building to empty trash when a homeless man started talking to her. As she began to walk away, the suspect suddenly grabbed and attempted to pull her into the enclosure. Fortunately, the girl was able to pull away and run to her apartment for help.

Dejon Lawton, a 52-year-old transient and currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), was arrested and booked into jail for kidnapping with intent to commit a lewd act and annoying/molesting a child. He is being held on $110,000 bail. Mr. Lawton has been resistant to outreach services and Riverside Police Officers have contacted him several times this year for violations of being under the influence, public intoxication, resisting arrest, and several violations of his PRCS.
