A New Service from RVA Protected: In-Force Life Insurance Policy Reviews

There are 3 basic types of policies; Term and Whole Life which are fixed (pretty much Set it and Forget it) and Universal Life which is FLEXIBLE and ADJUSTABLE. The focus of our efforts will be on Universal Life simply because, it is DEFINITELY NOT in the Set it and Forget it Camp.

I have reviewed hundreds of UL policies (Fixed Rate/Variable/Indexed) during my 25 years in the industry and 3 things come up nearly every time:

• The insureds don’t know what they own or how it works
• They have never run the financials after the initial sale to gauge policy’s health
• Continue as is and the coverage will not be there when they need it most, when they die

As you can imagine, these conversations are not the most pleasant given the news that is uncovered and shared. But, in most cases, the insured appreciated the education and candid approach to the review.

Just a quick note to say Thank You to everyone who has either given me the opportunity to help or has sent a friend, relative or coworker my way. I am very grateful and appreciative for every interaction and for the trust and confidence placed in me and in RVA Protected.

I’ve been at it for around a year and a half now, and by many accounts the last year has been one of the most challenging the Property & Casualty Industry has experienced in a loooooong time. It has been tough sledding in just about every measurable way; it has not been easy. Great timing on my part, right ?!?!?!

Still being in one piece and continuing to plow ahead given this challenging environment is more reason to be thankful for the many opportunities I have been given to help. So, at the risk of repeating myself, I’ll wrap this up and say again, THANK YOU!

Most car insurance companies offer telematics programs that track driver behavior; that data is then used to "personalize your insurance experience." You enroll only after reading and agreeing to their rules of play, and obviously the results will impact your premium, good, bad, or otherwise. Not all programs work exactly the same way and good drivers get better rates than bad ones.

All fine and good, right?

A recent New York Times article centers around how automakers such as General Motors share customers' driving behavior with data-collection companies such as LexisNexis, which in turn sells that information to auto insurance companies, but sometimes it's without effectively letting customers know. This information may also affect your rate as it does with the fully disclosed, agreed to programs.

Not fine and good.

For anyone who wants to know if their driving habits are being tracked and shared, they should consult the privacy terms of any connected car services they're enrolled in. They can also request a consumer disclosure report through LexisNexis, which is required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
