A healthy horse performs better. A healthy employee does too. 🐎

One thing the horse world understands well is that performance starts long before competition day. Chiropractic care, recovery, nutrition, and preventative maintenance all help keep horses performing at their best.

The same principle applies in the workplace.

When employees have access to wellness resources, preventative care, mental health support, and quality healthcare, they are more likely to:
✔️ Stay healthy
✔️ Be productive
✔️ Miss fewer days of work
✔️ Avoid larger health issues down the road

As a Business Benefits Coach, one of the biggest opportunities I see for employers is shifting from a reactive approach to a proactive one. The goal isn't just to pay claims when something goes wrong. It's to help people stay healthy in the first place.

Because when you take care of the little problems before they become big problems, everybody wins.

Reach out today to learn how a wellness-focused benefits strategy can support your employees and your bottom line.

There are two workplace challenges nobody likes to talk about: alcohol and divorce.

Yet both have a major impact on employee wellbeing, productivity, absenteeism, and overall business performance.

The good news? Employers have tools to help.

A strong Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can provide employees with access to:
✔️ Licensed marriage and family therapists
✔️ Mental health support
✔️ Financial counseling
✔️ Resources for navigating life's toughest challenges

When employees have the support they need at home, they are better able to focus, perform, and thrive at work.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is companies offering an EAP but never communicating it. Employees can't use benefits they don't know exist.

If you haven't reviewed your EAP recently, now might be the perfect time. The right program can make a meaningful difference for both your employees and your business.

Reach out today if you'd like to explore EAP options that better support your workforce.

Business owners in agriculture are losing good employees over something most people never think about: access to healthcare. 🌾

In rural communities, getting care is not always simple. Doctors may be hours away, access can be limited, and language barriers can make the process even harder. When employees delay or avoid care, employers often see the effects through higher turnover, absenteeism, and lower productivity.

That’s why agriculture-focused healthcare programs are built differently. It’s not just about finding the cheapest plan. It’s about creating access to care that actually works for the people feeding our communities every day.

And here’s the part many employers miss: you may qualify even if you are not a traditional farm operation.

Some qualifying industries can include:
🚛 Trucking and ag transportation
🚜 Agriculture equipment manufacturing
💧 Irrigation and water transport
🌱 Fertilizer companies
🏭 Bottle and packaging manufacturing
🛠️ Businesses that support the agriculture industry in any way

If your business touches agriculture, even indirectly, it’s worth exploring your options.

Because the people helping feed America deserve benefits that truly support their health and wellbeing.

We’re back with , looking at the bigger picture behind pest control and why reducing insecticide use matters.

Every gallon of insecticide replaced by beneficial insects is one less layer of chemicals ending up in the soil, on crops, and throughout the food system. As more research raises questions about pesticide exposure and how long certain chemicals can remain in the environment, growers are continuing to look for safer, more sustainable solutions.

Beneficial insects offer a different path, one that works with nature instead of constantly trying to overpower it. The goal is not just to protect yields, but to help create healthier food and a healthier environment at the same time. 🐞🌱

It’s a smarter long-term approach to farming, and a reminder that better systems create better outcomes.

Did you know some of the most important workers in agriculture are insects? 🐞🌱

We visited to learn how farmers use beneficial insects instead of heavy pesticides to protect crops like tomatoes and peppers. By introducing natural predators that target specific pests, growers can control infestations while keeping food safer and ecosystems healthier.

Here’s the idea in simple terms:
🐞 Beneficial insects hunt the pests damaging crops
🌿 Farmers reduce reliance on chemical pesticides
🍅 Healthier crops make their way to your plate

It’s a smarter, more natural approach to agriculture that’s been developing for decades.

In farming and in business, the best results come from managing risk the right way - not just reacting to problems.

What’s the biggest mistake new riders make?
Losing their balance - and not knowing how to recover.

In my time at Blue Oak Stables, my trainer Kim explains why balance is everything when you're in the saddle. And the same is true in business.

👉 A rider pulling on the reins throws off the horse.
👉 An HR team pulling in the wrong direction throws off the entire benefits plan.

That’s why having the right fit, the right guidance, and the right coach matters - whether you're buying a horse or building an insurance strategy that supports your people.

I’m Derek Parsons, your Business Benefits Coach.
Let’s make the ride smoother - for you and your team.

I thought I had it under control...
Right up until the horse went one way and I went the other. 🐎💥

That fall was a humbling moment - and a helpful one.

Because here’s what stuck with me:
A well-trained horse is like a good insurance policy.

When it’s built right, the ride is smooth, responsive, and safe.
But if you’re constantly battling it? Overcorrecting? Feeling thrown off?
Something’s not working - and it might be time for a better fit.

Your benefits plan shouldn’t be a struggle.
It should support you, guide you, and keep your team protected.

Grateful to Blue Oak Stables for the ride - and the reality check.
