Over the last 16 years working in credit, I’ve realized something that most people don’t talk about enough…
It’s not just about fixing your credit.
It’s about actually knowing what’s going on with it at all times.
And the truth is… most people don’t.
I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had where someone says, “I thought everything was fine,” and then we pull their report and there’s a collection account, a late payment, or something reporting incorrectly that they had no idea about.
Not because they didn’t care…
But because they weren’t consistently looking at the right information.
Here’s the reality…
Your credit profile is always changing.
- Balances update.
- Accounts report monthly.
- New activity shows up.
And sometimes… things get reported that shouldn’t even be there.
If you’re only checking your credit once in a while, or relying on limited information from random apps, you’re basically operating blind.
And when you finally need your credit… for a house, a car, or business funding… now you’re reacting instead of being prepared.
That’s why I always tell people… awareness comes first.
Before you fix anything.
Before you build anything.
You need to be able to see what’s actually happening.
That’s one of the reasons I personally use tools like IdentityIQ.
It allows you to access your credit information in one place and stay on top of changes as they happen.
No guessing.
No waiting until it’s too late.
Just having visibility so you can make better decisions.
And when I’m working with clients, this becomes a big part of the process.
Because while I’m helping them clean things up… they also need to understand what’s happening in real time.
When something updates, we can address it.
When something looks off, we can review it.
When progress is made, they can actually see it.
That level of awareness changes everything.
If you’ve never really taken the time to consistently review your credit… or you’re not sure what’s actually being reported right now… this is something you should start paying attention to.
If you want to check out what I personally use, I’ll leave a link below so you can take a look and see if it makes sense for you.
At the end of the day, nobody is going to care about your credit more than you.
The more you understand it… the better position you’ll be in.
