One Medicare rule continues to surprise retirees every year: **IRMAA**.

IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) can increase Medicare Part B and Part D premiums when income exceeds certain thresholds. What catches many people off guard is that Medicare generally looks back **two years** when determining these costs.
