Extreme summer heat is more than uncomfortable. It can pose serious health risks for people of all ages and health conditions.

A few simple habits can make a big difference on very hot days:

🔸 Stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day when possible.
🔸 Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🔸 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing when outside.
🔸 Use fans or air conditioning, or visit a cooling center or public place with air conditioning if your home is too warm.
🔸 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, headache, confusion, or nausea, and reach out to medical professionals if necessary.

These steps can help prevent heat-related illness and keep you and the people you care about safer all summer long. If you have questions about how heat might affect your health or medications, talk with your doctor or health care team.

As always, know that we are here for you if you would like to review your coverage. Give us a call today, and we can find time to connect.

As May brings more sunshine and renewed momentum, it is a great time to reflect on what is still possible.

There is no deadline on growth, and no expiration date on ambition. No matter where you are in your journey, you can begin again with clarity and purpose. And that fresh start does not have to be monumental to be meaningful. Often, the most impactful progress begins with one small, intentional step in a new direction.

As we move through this month, what is one goal or dream you are ready to revisit or take steps toward for the very first time? Feel free to share it in the comments. We would love to hear what you are working toward.

With National Senior Fraud Awareness Day on May 15th, we want to highlight several common scams circulating right now so you can more easily recognize and avoid them.

✅ Tech Support Scams – Scammers pretend to be trusted tech support and claim your device has an urgent issue. Their goal is to gain remote access or collect payment for fake “repairs.”

✅ Government or Medicare Impersonation – Fraudsters pose as Medicare, Social Security, or other government agencies to steal personal or financial information. Legitimate agencies will not contact you unexpectedly asking for sensitive details.

✅ Family Imposter Scams – Someone pretends to be a loved one in distress and pressures you to send money immediately.

✅ Sweepstakes, Lottery & Prize Scams – You’re told you’ve won a prize but must pay fees to claim it. Real prizes never require upfront payment.

✅ Romance or Investment Scams – Scammers build emotional trust online and then exploit that relationship for financial gain.

We hope these reminders help you stay informed and protected in an increasingly digital world. If you have questions or need guidance within our area of expertise, we’re always here to help.

If you’re turning 65 soon and are unsure about what it means to enroll in Medicare, you are not alone. One of the most common questions we hear from those nearing retirement is around the timeline for signing up for Medicare.

So, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help you stay on track:

✅Know your enrollment window. Your initial enrollment window lasts for seven months — three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after your birthday. Enrolling early in this timeframe can help ensure your coverage begins right when you need it.

✅Understand how to sign up. Some individuals are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, while others need to take action themselves to enroll in Original Medicare. This often depends on whether you are already receiving Social Security benefits.

✅Do not delay without a plan. Waiting too long to enroll without qualifying coverage can result in delayed coverage start dates and ongoing late-enrollment penalties.

✅Be aware of other options. If you are still working and covered under an employer plan, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that can allow you to defer your enrollment. However, missing all enrollment windows can limit your options and increase costs, so it's best to clarify this early.

Medicare decisions can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate them alone. Whether you are approaching 65 or are simply evaluating your options, contact us for guidance tailored to your situation.
