No one really tells you how hard it is to be a business owner.
The constant second-guessing.
The pressure of knowing the decisions are yours.
The loneliness that can come with building something from the ground up.
The late nights staring at a screen until your eyes literally hurt.

And then there are the days where you realize…

This is what you asked for.
You wanted to build something.
You wanted to create something that was yours.
You wanted to make a difference.

So sometimes, when I’ve been sitting at my desk entirely too long, I just turn the music up and have a full-blown dance party in my office. 😂

Building Fern & Co. hasn’t always been easy. And honestly, I don’t think it’s supposed to be.

But I’m proud of what I’m building, proud of how far it’s already come, and really excited about where we’re going.

🌿 Fern & Co. is growing! 🌿

From the very beginning, I wanted Fern & Co. to be more than just an insurance agency. I wanted to build a team of people who genuinely care about the communities they serve and take the time to educate clients—not just sell them a policy.

That’s why I’m so excited to welcome Lacey Singleton to Fern & Co. Insurance Advisors as our newest Insurance Advisor!

One of the things that stood out to me most is her knowledge of the insurance industry, her work ethic, and her passion for serving our local agriculture community. She understands the unique challenges that come with farming and ranching, and she’s committed to helping protect the operations that keep our communities running.

Having a hard time finding insurance? You’re not alone.

Over the last few years, many insurance companies have tightened their underwriting guidelines. Businesses with certain exposures, higher-risk operations, prior claims, or unique situations may find it difficult to obtain coverage through the standard insurance market.

That doesn’t always mean you’re uninsurable.

An Excess & Surplus (E&S) policy may be the right solution.

E&S insurance is designed for businesses and properties that don’t fit into traditional underwriting guidelines. It provides access to specialized carriers that can insure risks standard companies may decline.

Some examples include:
• Higher-risk business operations
• Vacant or older buildings
• Hard-to-place commercial properties
• Businesses with prior claims
• Specialized or unique industries
• Properties in high-risk locations

Every situation is different, and not every business needs an E&S policy—but if you’ve been told “no” by multiple insurance companies, there may still be options available.
