Random question…

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever filed an insurance claim for?

I’ll go first.

I’ve seen claims for hitting deer, water damage, stolen tools, and even a lost wedding ring under a homeowner's policy.

One thing many people don’t realize is that not every claim belongs on the same policy. Having the right coverage in place for things like jewelry, collectibles, tools, or other valuables can make a huge difference when something happens.

I think most people know they need insurance—they just aren’t always given the information they need to use it correctly or understand what they actually have covered until it’s too late.

Homeowners pay attention!

Most homeowners never review their insurance after closing.

So when something happens, they find out:
• Coverage is too low

Colorado insurance requirements — what you actually need to know

A lot of people think having “full coverage” means they’re fully protected, but that’s not always the case.

If you live in Colorado, the minimum auto insurance requirements are:

$25,000 bodily injury per person
$50,000 bodily injury per accident
$15,000 property damage

On paper, that sounds fine. In reality, it doesn’t go very far.

The average vehicle costs more than $15,000, and medical bills can add up quickly. If damages go over your limits, you’re responsible for the difference.

That’s why a lot of people choose to carry higher limits, along with uninsured motorist coverage and comp/collision.
