Some mermbers of the Mercer County Farm Bureau Board are serving on a panel of individuals who are working with WVU law professors and law students to update the "Land Owners' Rights and Responsibilities in West Virginia" document. There are thousands of West Virginia laws which have been created and many new laws are created in the WV Legislature each year. Individuals who own property are directly affected by many of these laws. This "Land Owners' Rights and Responsibilites in WV" document informs WV landowners of their basic rights and obligations. More specifically it gives a basic understanding to the rights a landowner has in the use of their property, it explains landowner duties towards their neighbors, it also explains govenment rights to private property and it is available to serve as a reference guide for locating laws that are of interest to landowners.
A public meeting will be scheduled for individuals to voice there opinions of items which should be covered in the document. The public meeting date will be posted in the near future.
