_______________
Charles Huynh NEEDS OUR HELP! Charles is suffering from a rare (inner-ear) vestibular condition called Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SSCD) . This serious condition is impacting his ability to live a normal functioning life, which is currently on "PAUSE". for the past 7+ years in various roles managing Apparel Product Creation for categories such as Young Athletes, Men's Sportswear and his current role in Nike Golf. His notable accomplishments has included products such as Tech Fleece, Nike International Rebranding, Nike Air Destroyer and energy product for Nike Golf. His energy level, intellect and creativity has always been evident through his passion for his work. Charles also is a professional photographer in his free time. He has traveled and worked in various countries all over the world and is hoping to find this passion once again . . As of late April of 2016, Charles began to notice that he wasn't feeling himself. His initial reaction was just that it was minor head congestion or a cold that would soon pass. After a few months, Charles knew he had to visit his doctor to find out why his symptoms have escalated to much more, so rapidly. He was now having extreme muffled hearing in both ears, severe headaches, and sudden nausea at all times. After visiting multiple specialists (8+) and undergoing numerous testing/imaging studies (10+), he was finally diagnosed with Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence. Symptoms Include:
> Fullness/pressure in the ear
> Anxiety / Social Anxiety / Panic Attacks
> Sound and/or pressure induced vertigo/dizziness
> Autophony (hearing internal noises louder than normal, such as one's own voice, or joint movements)
> Hypersensitivity to certain sounds/tones causing immediate dizziness and head pain, other sounds/tones are virtually inaudible
> Constant overall body pain, as the strain of remaining upright contorts every muscle in the body
> Balance system is affected, making the brain work incredibly hard to maintain basic equilibrium, creating leg weakness, brain fog, memory loss, and fatigue

NEXT STEPS:
Charles is planned to undergo two separate craniotomy surgeries at the California Ear Institute in Palo Alto, California. These will both require extensive recovery and healing time in order for him to relearn his vestibular functions, and return to his normal happy, outgoing self. Each surgery will require 3-12 months recovery time, and an estimated cost of $125,000 per procedure. We need your help to raise at least $45,000 to ensure that Charles is able to cover the medical expenses/travel cost. Health insurance will be covering 50-70% of the expenses and he is expected to cover the remaining portion.
___________________________
With our help, Charles will not only be able to overcome the challenges this condition has presented him with, but also raise awareness for the rare "invisible illness" of SSCD and other similar vestibular conditions. As Charles experienced, patients often face many challenges in being diagnosed with, and managing such a condition, since they are not widely known/researched. With HELPCHARLESHEAR Foundation, he hopes to be able to eliminate this struggle for others with this condition in the future by establishing better awareness. Follow Charles Journey on instagram:

Confirmed surgery date, MARCH 1st!
I'm heading to Palo Alto, CA at the end of the month to have my 1 of 2 Trans Mastoid Approach surgeries at the Stanford Hospital with Dr. Joseph Roberson (CEI Medical Group). Which means, they will go behind the outer ear through the mastoid bone where the canal is then plugged. This should give me some relief on my right ear and reduce a lot of my symptoms overall. Surgery got my left ear will determine how it responds during the recovery ...
