Started by Johnny Colden in 2009 in the bay area of California, Coasties has always been at the forefront of the coaster brake wheel industry. It was run there and created all sorts of awesome coaster brake chaos for a few years and then moved to Port Townsend Washington in 2011. It was then when three bike dudes Dash, his brother Chauncey and a man named Dan came together to hand build the wheels
for Johnny and Coasties wonderful customers. Shortly thereafter Johnny decided to sell Coasties to focus more on the other passions in his life: being incredible, Non Violent Communication and working with youth! It was then when Dash decided he would like a turn at bringing these beauties to the masses so he bought Coasties from Johnny. While it was a somber moment having Coasties founder and coaster brake hero depart after so many lovely years, it was just time to change the handlebars as they say. Dash continues to build wheels,run the biz and consult with Johnny, along with Dan, who is in the back lending his skilled Shwinn Factory Trained hands and building as well.
