I am not a doctor and I don't play one on T.V. but I do believe in the old advice.... "You are what you eat". Outside of my devotion to pizza ( which is a borderline fixation ) I try to eat fairly healthy. That being said, I was very happy to read this article about Manuka Honey. If what is written here is in any way accurate and helps even one person, I am very glad I posted it.

A new study out of UCLA has pinpointed a promising application for manuka honey: treating a common type of breast cancer.

I want to say thank you to all the folks who posted their good wishes on the birth of my new granddaughter Sophie. Everyone is doing great and Sophie first surprised us with her great ability to sleep! Now she is smiling and posing for pictures. I am looking forward to being her grandfather and doing as much as I can to be a worthy relative for her. I am glad for everyone's support and good wishes I will always remember everyone for their kindness.

The Curious Connection Between My Son: My Daughter; My Mother and Me.

This weekend was a real great one. stating with the celebration of my daughter's upcoming new baby to make her place in this world and my granddaughter's celebration of my son's now one year old daughter's birthday. There was a bit of sadness in all this celebrating as I thought about how young my kids were when my folks passed away. That being said this story starts with my son. During the first 13 years of his life I lovingly called him " little man". When he turned 13, the childhood name was no longer appropriate. Around this time Superman movies were breaking big and my son rode that excitement like many others his age. As time went by, he became a member of his high school football and wrestling teams and developed quite a physique. Now let me fill in some information. As most Superman fans know Superman's family name on Krypton was El. So now here is the rest of the story. My son's name Micha -El. My daughter's name Racha - El. Some of the most important people in my son's life ... Bas - El; El-on; Brie -El; Ky - El; and now for my mom whose maiden name was Isra - El. There are more El names in our life but I will stop here. But before I end I also want to say that true to the spirit of Superman Michael has a heart of gold; great physical and mental strength and a devotion to his family and friends that is HUGE just like the first man of Steel.

So this weekend was the Double Header of a lifetime! It began with a Baby Shower to welcome the upcoming arrival of granddaughter Sophie to Parents Rachael and Anthony at the home of grandparents Donna and Joe. We all were anxious about unstable weather but the festivities were thankfully not rained out and a good time was had by all. On Sunday a celebration was held in honor of the first year of granddaughter Maya ( Bubbles ) Cohen at the home of her parents. Maya is already a celebrity because of her good nature, inquisitive mind and warm smile. She is a major leaguer and hopefully will never let anyone get in the way of the superstar she is destined to be. Me ..well my job as a grandparent is to do all I can to be a great coach and manager to my growing family. I will not intrude but I will support. I will provide suggestions and resources from time to time but my son and my daughter are both Major Leaguers in my book...superstars! Their mates are also superstars so everyone else just watch as these baby rookies develop into superstars just like their parents. Thank you God for giving me and Terri much to be happy about

What's OLD is NEW again! So this time college campuses are hearing all these " ritously indignant college students" protetsting the war going on in Israel> In 1968 they were protesting the war in Vietnam and then went on to careers in Wall Street; Banking; Medicine; Sports; Entertainment and many other paths that made them very rich. Today's protestor is tomorrow's banker.

Footnote 🦶 on my last post. On the day we got married....the thermometer registered 89 degrees ( nothing like sweating bullets just before saying I do!) Today we will be lucky if temps are more than 45. So much for global warming.

With joy in my heart today I celebrate my 38th wedding anniversary to a person who is beautiful in every way ....my wife Terri. She is the most kind and giving person I know. She is the foundation of my family and the mother of two children who I am extremely proud of and feel fortunate to call my son and daughter. I am eagerly looking forward to the next 38 years with my bride.

If I was in charge of education in this country every school kid in grade six would be required to view this movie, then again in grade 11; and then as a Senior in high school. We all need a reminder every now and again about what a great country the United States of America is - despite all our squabbles.

A very well written article that clearly spells out the various forms of long term care insurance without a lot of buzz words.
