The Howie Levy 5K

The Howie Levy 5K Howie Levy was a dedicated employee of the Mid Island Day Camp, a program of the Mid Island Y, who we sadly lost to Pancreatic Cancer in 2009.

In his memory we hold his race to fund research for Pancreatic Cancer cures and camp scholarships. Join us on May 21, 2023 (tentative date(for the 9th Annual Howie Levy 5K fundraiser at our summer camp. Howie Levy spent many summers as a dedicated employee of the Mid-Island Y JCC Day Camp. He was a very special individual who touched the lives of many staff and children during his time as a staff

member and member of our JCC. Sadly, we lost Howie to Pancreatic Cancer in 2009. In his memory, we will be holding the Howie Levy 5K. This event will consist of an ‘official’, timed ‘5K’. Immediately following will be fun activities for the entire family: food, raffles and more! Howie spent each summer working with families and children who could not normally afford to send their children to summer camp. Each summer the Mid-Island Y JCC gives as much scholarships as it can to families in need in our community. Last year, the JCC provided more than $200,000 of financial aid to families in need. This amazing event will truly honor what Howie loved to do while helping raise funds to help battle the type of cancer that took Howie from us. This event will be a fundraiser for both the Howie Levy Camp Scholarship Fund at the JCC and Pancreatic Cancer Research. Last year we raised over $20,000 for these two great causes.
