Big news for Medicare beneficiaries!
Starting July 1, 2026, the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program will offer eligible Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage beneficiaries expanded access to select GLP-1 weight management medications (such as Wegovy®, Zepbound®, and Foundayo®) for a fixed copay of $50 per month!
Because standard Medicare Part D rules typically don't cover medications prescribed solely for weight loss, this temporary demonstration program acts as a critical "bridge" to fill the gap.
What you need to know:
Fixed Cost: Eligible beneficiaries pay $50/month (this operates outside regular Part D, so it won’t count toward your true out-of-pocket limits).
Eligibility: You must be 18+ and meet specific BMI and clinical criteria (such as a BMI of 35+, or a lower BMI with a related condition like high blood pressure or pre-diabetes).
How to Start:
Your medical provider will need to submit a prior authorization request directly through the program's central processor starting July 1, 2026. Talk to your doctor to see if you qualify, and check out the official CMS page for complete eligibility requirements and FAQs:
