Turning 65 is one of those milestones that sneaks up on you faster than you expect.

And somewhere in the middle of everything else happening, you're supposed to make decisions about Medicare that could affect your healthcare costs for years. Without a roadmap. Without someone explaining what the letters actually mean. Without knowing what questions to even ask.

If you're already on Medicare and something has felt off, a bill that didn't make sense, a claim that didn't go the way you expected, a prescription that suddenly costs more, you're not imagining it. The gaps are real.

And if you're approaching 65 and haven't started thinking about it yet, now is exactly the right time.

I put together a free guide that breaks down what your coverage actually does when real life happens. Not the fine print version. The version that actually makes sense.

Happy 1st of May! Smile — you deserve it! 🌸
If you want to take a closer look at your current dental coverage — let's make sure you're not sitting on any surprises. Just reach out and we're here to help!

Most people assume dental insurance works like a safety net. You pay every month, you go to the dentist, and it covers what needs to be covered. Simple.
And then you need a crown. Or a root canal. Or an implant. And the bill comes back and it's nothing like what you expected.

Here's what tends to catch people off guard ⤵

⚠️ Annual maximums are real. Most dental plans cap coverage between $1,000–$2,000 per year. Once you hit that number, you're paying out of pocket for the rest of the year. For anyone who needs significant work done, that ceiling gets hit fast.
⏳ Waiting periods exist. A lot of plans won't cover major procedures for the first 6–12 months after you enroll. If you signed up and assumed you were immediately covered for everything — you may want to double check that.

🚫 Cosmetic procedures are almost never covered. But the line between cosmetic and necessary isn't always as clear as people expect, and that gray area can be expensive.

🦷 Major restorative work like implants and dentures often falls into a category with much lower reimbursement rates than people expect.

Your dental plan is still worth having. It just works better when you understand what it actually does before you need it.

There is a frustrating reality in the healthcare system that many people call the income gap.

It is that awkward space where your income goes up — which should be a celebration — but suddenly you are told you no longer qualify for Medicaid.

Here's the truth: If you don't handle that transition perfectly, you can end up with a raise in your paycheck but no way to afford a doctor.

As a local advocate, I see this happen far too often. But here is the good news you might not hear from a generic call center.

Losing Medicaid eligibility is considered a qualifying life event. This means you don't have to wait for an open enrollment period to move into a subsidized ACA plan.

My goal is to make sure you never have a single day of being uninsured. Many families are surprised to find that they qualify for plans with very low monthly premiums and high quality coverage.

I am here to bridge that gap for you. You shouldn't have to choose between a better income and your family's health.

💬 Did your income change recently or did you get a notice saying you are "over-income" for your current benefits?

Inspiration: Wouldn't It Be Nice to Retire Without Worrying About Money? 💭

Two people. Two retirements. Two very different experiences.

👉 John set up an annuity before retirement. Now, every month, they receive a steady paycheck for life — no matter what the stock market does. They travel, enjoy time with family, and never stress about running out of money.

👉 James didn't set up an annuity. Their retirement is filled with constant money worries — watching the market, stressing over withdrawals, and wondering if they'll need to pick up a part-time job in a few years.

What's the difference?
✅ One planned for lifelong income.
❌ The other is hoping their savings last.

The reality is, retirement isn't just about getting there — it's about staying there comfortably. Annuities help ensure your money keeps working for you, so you don't have to worry about outliving your savings. 💰

What's your biggest worry about retirement? Let's talk about how to solve it. Drop it in the comments! ⬇️

Shared with permission from a pharmacist:

Most people don’t know what a PBM is.

But they feel it every time they go to the pharmacy.

PBMs—Pharmacy Benefit Managers—sit between the patient, the pharmacy, and the insurance company.

They decide:
• what medications are covered
• what you pay
• which pharmacy you can use

That wasn’t always the case.

PBMs started as administrative processors.
Then they were asked to control costs.
Then they became embedded in Medicaid managed care.
Then came Medicare Part D in 2006—and they became central to the system.

Today, companies like CVS Health, through CVS Caremark, operate across multiple parts of that system.

That matters.
Because when one entity can influence coverage, pricing, and dispensing, it changes how decisions are made.

When I started my career, decisions about medications were made between the doctor, the patient, and the pharmacist.

Today, many of those decisions are made upstream—before the patient ever reaches the pharmacy.

The pharmacy is no longer where decisions are made.
It’s where those decisions are enforced.

If you’ve ever stood at the counter and thought,
“Why isn’t this covered?”
or
“Why does it cost this much?”

There’s a reason.

And it didn’t happen overnight.

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ “March in” and take a step toward better health!

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a great reminder that screening can help prevent cancer or catch it early — even before symptoms begin.

Many screening options are simple, effective, and could make a life-saving difference. If you or a loved one are age-eligible, now is the perfect time to talk with your doctor and get scheduled.

Your health matters. Prevention matters. Early detection matters. 💙

Let’s make this the month you take action and stay ahead.
