I'm working on something new, and I'd love your help!

I've spent the past four years helping clients with their finances, and over the last year I've focused on the place where money questions get hardest: divorce.

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst practitioner, I'm creating educational resources for the questions I hear most.

What do I need to gather?
What happens to the house?
How do retirement accounts get divided?

If you've been through a divorce, are in one now, or are quietly thinking about it, I'd love your input.

My survey is anonymous, 11 questions, and takes about two minutes. Tap the link in the comments for the Workshop Survey, or screenshot the image and press on the QR code for the survey to open.

Sharing this with a friend who needs a voice in it would mean a lot.

Every hour spent hunting for a missing statement is an hour nobody spends actually moving your divorce forward.

When financial documents live in a dozen different places, scattered across inboxes, folders, and paper piles, the people working on your behalf end up reconciling information instead of making decisions. That is slower, more expensive, and far more stressful than it needs to be.

There is a quieter way to do this. One organized file system, where every account, statement, and number lives in a single accurate place. When your entire team works from the same picture, the conversation shifts away from "where is that document" and toward "here is what is fair and sustainable."

This is part of what makes a settlement-focused process feel calm instead of chaotic. The details are handled, so the energy goes where it belongs.

At Bloom, we build that single organized system early, so the work stays steady and your resources stay intact.

The day your divorce is final, your health insurance may already be gone.

Three things tend to slip through the cracks in a settlement, and all three are quiet until they are not.

Health coverage is the first. If you were on your spouse's plan, that coverage often ends with the divorce, and replacing it takes planning, not panic.

Life insurance is the second. Beneficiary designations do not update themselves. If support payments are meant to be protected, the policy backing them needs to be part of the conversation.

Disability protection is the third. If income from one party supports the other, what happens if that income stops? Most settlements never ask the question.

None of this is about expecting the worst. It is about building a plan that holds even when life shifts. Addressing these items inside the financial process is far less expensive than discovering a gap a year later.

This is the kind of detail a settlement-minded process is built to catch, so nothing important gets left behind.

You cannot divide what you have not yet named.

For most couples, the full picture of a marriage's finances has never lived in one place. Accounts one person managed, retirement funds the other rarely looked at, a mortgage, maybe a small pension, a car loan, and a few things nobody thought to write down. When a marriage ends, all of it needs to be seen clearly before anything can be settled.

Seeing it clearly starts with getting it all in one place. Every asset, every debt, the accounts and the values, laid out where you can finally look at the whole of it at once. Assets on one side, liabilities on the other. Bank accounts, real estate, retirement plans, investments, business interests, personal property, and the debts attached to them.
This is where taking your time pays off. When the numbers are whole, both people can move forward on solid ground, and the conversation that follows can be fair and rooted in what is actually there.

A CDFA® practitioner (Certified Divorce Financial Analyst) helps you build toward that full view, gathering the records, verifying the values, and organizing everything into something both parties can genuinely understand. Not to gain an edge, but so the path ahead is clear for everyone.

When you can see the whole picture, you can make decisions you will still feel good about years from now. That is the steady, informed foundation we are here to help you stand on.
The first step is simpler than most people expect. Comment "SNAPSHOT" and we will send you our Financial Snapshot, a short, high-level questionnaire that brings your entire financial life onto a single page, so you can see where you stand from the very start.

If the other side already understands the numbers and you are just now learning where the accounts are, that is not a level table.

For years, one person may have handled the statements, the balances, the long term planning. None of that means you cannot catch up. It just means you are starting the conversation with less information, and information is the thing that protects you here.

Before any settlement decisions get made, you deserve to actually see the full picture. What you own. What is owed. What each option means for the life you are rebuilding. That is not negotiation strategy. That is the groundwork that makes a fair, sustainable agreement possible.

The traditional process rarely slows down to teach you this. It assumes you already know. We built our approach around the opposite belief, that understanding comes first and decisions come second.

This is exactly the kind of groundwork we walk through privately, at a pace that lets you absorb it.

Your kids know more than you think, even when you have said nothing at all.

Children are remarkably sensitive to the emotional temperature in a home. They notice the tight conversations, the silences, the strain on your face when you think they are not looking. You can shield them from the details and still not shield them from the tension.

This is one of the quietest reasons the traditional, court-driven process can be so hard on a family. A drawn-out, contentious approach does not stay contained to the adults. It seeps into the household, the dinner table, the bedtime routines. The stress has to live somewhere, and children often carry more of it than we realize.

A private, lower-conflict path protects more than your finances. When parents work toward agreement instead of opposition, the emotional climate stays steadier. Decisions get made calmly and on your own timeline. The people who matter most get to feel that the ground beneath them is still solid.

This is the heart of why we do this work the way we do. Protecting your family's wellbeing is not separate from protecting your future. They are the same thing.

If you want to understand what a calmer, private path could look like for your family, comment "AMICABLE" and we will send you a link to book a private consultation.

Not sure if you need a neutral or someone in your corner? Here is how to tell.

When you start mapping out your divorce, one of the first questions is who supports you and in what role. A neutral works with both people at once, helping you reach an agreement that holds up for everyone. An advocate works for you alone, focused on your individual financial picture.

Neither is better. They simply fit different situations.

A neutral often works well when communication is still steady and both of you want to solve this together. An advocate can be the better fit when you need support understanding your own numbers before you sit down at the table.

The traditional process tends to assume everyone needs to lawyer up and square off. That assumption quietly drains time, money, and goodwill that your family will want later.

At Bloom, we help you understand which role actually fits your situation, so the process can stay private, calm, and built around your terms.

There comes a point where staying the same asks more of you than changing ever could.

Growth isn't always loud. Most of the time, it's a series of quiet decisions that slowly change the way you see yourself. With that, what's possible begins to change.

06/27/2026

Prenups often carry a stigma. For many people, they feel like planning for the end of a marriage before it even begins.

But a prenup can also be an opportunity to have thoughtful conversations about finances, expectations, and the future you want to build together.

Approaching these conversations before marriage can help both parties better understand their financial picture, reduce uncertainty, and make informed decisions together.

It's less about expecting divorce and more about being financially prepared.

Want to be more financially prepared for the future?

When you can see more of the road, you're less likely to second-guess every turn. You still don't know what's around the bend, but you have enough visibility to keep moving.

Understanding your financial picture works much the same way. It won't predict every outcome, but it can help you approach the decisions ahead with more confidence.
