After a silver medal win at the internationally-renowned San Fransisco Spirits Competition earlier this year, Arizona Distilling Co.'s Desert Dry gin was definitely representing for our state's ability to make craft spirits. Now the Desert Dry gin can add a second silver medal win to its list of bragging rights after the Gin Masters 2014 competition in London awarded the designation among 100 participating micro-distilleries. http://snip.ly/8WM

The Kitchen on the Street food truck opened for business July 7th at the Laser Spine Institute in Scottsdale. The company uses the proceeds to feed hungry children in the Valley by creating food backpacks to give to children.

The company has been open for a couple of years, but with a grant from the Arizona Diamondbacks and a new partnership with the Laser Spine Institute, they are able to partner with more than 20 schools in Arizona and Texas to feed hungry kids.

The Scottsdale City Council has allowed a downtown bar complex to have live entertainment and outdoor seating.

Les and Diane Corieri already have opened Bottled Blonde, a craft-beer hall with an outdoor patio, and will be opening Livewire, an indoor live-entertainment venue that will accommodate about 1,000 patrons, on the property that used to house Axis/Radius. http://snip.ly/lTY

With a clientele of mostly old dudes puffing on ci**rs bought at the store next door, the vibe can certainly verge on boy's club.
