On June 12, 2021, the Segers Foundation and Mastery Charter Pastorius will host an event called “The Summer of Peace”. Community members from neighborhoods affected by gun violence are taking action to reduce and prevent gun violence in the city of Philadelphia by promoting violence prevention, community safety, and access to opportunity. The Summer of Peace is a collaborative effort between the Segers Foundation, Regular Fellas Nonprofit, Aniyah’s Mission, Best decision water ice, and local charter schools as an activity to mobilize youth and young adults against gun violence. Due to the pandemic, students have been sidelined for over a year and have had limited chances to get engaged. The Summer of Peace provides a tangible, yet feasible opportunity for students to participate in activism across the City.

We invite you and your staff to attend the Summer of Peace site located in your district. Also, please encourage your community to sign our Summer of Peace Agreement through social media and by word of mouth.
