Happy National Pet Day! Mocha woke up today a little worried about her 401k but I advised her to focus on her long term goals and not make emotional decisions. Luckily, she is only 3 and has plenty of time until retirement. 😃

”There’s always a reason to sell stocks.”

Watching stock investments drop 5% or more in a single day can be anxiety-inducing, and it happens more often than most would like. Many investors feel like they have to sell in order to mitigate their losses. However, doing so may cause them to miss out on a rebound that is right around the corner. While short-term losses can be hard to handle emotionally, it’s important to remember that the stock market has generally increased over the long term.

Congrats to Tom! I look forward to continuing the great partnership he had with his clients over the past few decades!

Congrats to Tom! I look forward to continuing the great partnership he had with his clients over the past few decades!

After an amazing 26 years with Kades-Margolis, our very own Tom Kopsie, ChFC®, CLU® officially retired as of December 31, 2024!

Now, Tom plans to "golf, fish, travel, and spend a lot of time with my 3 grandkids."

Tom was hired by firm cofounder Ed Margolis in February 1998 and has been a cornerstone of our team ever since. His knowledge, integrity, and friendly personality have made a lasting, positive impact on his clients throughout Montgomery and Chester counties, and his clients will continue to be served by his hand-picked Kades-Margolis colleagues, including Josh Miller, Julie Aranowitz, CFP, Bret DeStefano, David Donovan, Greg Holman, and Jeff Miller, Jr.

During a brief speech Tom gave during our winter conference last month, Tom had this to say about his time with Kades-Margolis: "As I did my transition this past October, November, December, meeting with my clients, it was amazing to me how many clients were thanking me, hugging me, telling me they wouldn't have been able to retire unless I worked with them. And I say that because this profession is a worthy profession, and the most rewarding part is working for your clients and seeing them successfully retire. That's the best feeling."

Tom also positiviely impacted his fellow advisors at our firm. In the words of colleague Shawn Anderson: "Tom, with open arms, welcomed me. He not only taught me the business, but really held my hand for the first couple years. He started off as a mentor, and it wasn't long before he became a really good friend. He's very hardworking, loyal, a good person, cares about his family, cares about his country ... We're going to miss you but wish you the best of luck. I can't thank you enough for all you did for me and all of us. Salute to you, Tom. An amazing person, great advisor, amazing friend."

We're excited for Tom as he embarks on this well-earned next chapter of life, and so ask you to join us in congratulating him on a remarkable career and his retirement!
