Welcome to life with Katie

I started this page because of a conversation I had recently with a friend. We both work in life insurance and mortgage protection, fully self employed. Our team (and the field in general) is mostly men, with a few stand-out, wonderful women in the mix.

She has been at it a lot longer than I have, (I’m a year into the industry) but she took a moment to lean in and tell me that she was encouraged by my journey, process, and voice.

It surprised me. Most of my coaching and feedback has been around my voice. “It’s too soft, your approach is too gentle, stop being so nice”.

It’s hard to fight my nature though, and I think for a lot of women in sales we are being told that if we can’t show up in neon colors and captivate a room we won’t make it.

And that led me here. I started this page to share my life a little more. I’ll post some things about work here and there and the experience I’m having, my art, the projects I am working on, all the things I like about my life. Most of them are soft and gentle and nice.

I hope this is a space of encouragement and gentleness and growth, for me, and for other women who are in the same arena of embracing their feminine energy in a male-dominated field. 🩵
