As Saharan dust continues to influence much of the tropical Atlantic, keeping the Main Development Region relatively quiet, we're also watching a different part of the basin as we head into next week.

A stalled frontal boundary is expected to linger near the Southeast coastline next week. As it does, there is the potential for an area of low pressure to develop along the boundary. Should a low form and remain over water long enough, it could gradually acquire tropical or subtropical characteristics. Confidence remains low, but it's something we'll be watching closely.

It's a good reminder that not all tropical development originates from tropical waves moving across the Atlantic. Early in the hurricane season, we often watch stalled fronts and lingering weather boundaries much closer to home, where conditions can occasionally come together just enough for a system to organize.

Meanwhile, Saharan dust continues to suppress activity across much of the tropical Atlantic by introducing dry air and making it harder for storms to organize. While the dust won't eliminate the chance for development, it can help keep activity in check across the Main Development Region.

We'll continue to monitor the latest as hurricane season unfolds.
