We are just a few weeks away from a new school year starting. And while kids and parents look forward to that first day of school with varying degrees of anticipation, one thing is for certain, starting a new school year can be expensive! For some families the cost can be a real financial burden. Since 2011 Diane's Garden has helped over 200 children and their parents by providing needed school supplies and we've done it again this year by providing help to several families and teachers at two Pekin-area schools. We have a limited number of school supplies available, but if you know of someone in the Pekin-area who could use some help, please send a message on Facebook.

After a weekend of shopping, sorting, and organizing school supplies for kids at several area schools, Diane's Garden is now in the process of distributing them to several grateful families and teachers. Thank you to all who have helped with this project.

In 2011, the Spialek family established Diane’s Garden, which is a charitable foundation in memory of wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane Spialek. Given Diane always had a deep concern for helping less privileged kids, the family decided to honor her by providing school supplies to children in families going through difficult times. Since its beginning, Diane’s Garden—with the help of friends, family, and neighbors—has met the back-to-school needs of almost 200 children. While the economy is improving, the needs are still there. Her legacy of love will continue this year as Diane’s Garden will help kids from six different schools in the Pekin-area.

Over the past several years Diane's Garden has been able to provide school supplies to many families thanks to support from family and friends. A very special thanks to Dean and Dana Goff and Mary Ann Ladendorf who generously have supported the mission of Diane's Garden since it began. Thank you Mary Ann, Dana, and Dean for helping so many kids to be prepared for the start of school.

Back to school can be an exciting time, but it can also be a stressful, budget-breaking time for some families. Since 2011 Diane's Garden has helped relieve the stress and financial burden for families by providing needed school supplies so children can go back to school with their needs met. We are excited to announce that this year Diane's Garden reached a milestone. Since its founding in memory of Diane Spialek our family has provided school supplies to over 200 young people in three states.

A big "Thank you" to Dean and Dana Goff for their generous donation to Diane's Garden. This has been the sixth summer Diane's Garden has helped families with back to school expenses, and we could not have helped as many children if it had not been for friends of Diane's Garden like Dean and Dana. From the start of Diane's Garden the Goffs have joined us every year in keeping Diane's legacy of love alive.

This is the sixth summer Diane's Garden has helped families get ready for a new school year by providing school supplies. We are fortunate to be able to help those families, but Diane's Garden is also fortunate to have friends who help support the program. This year a special thanks goes out to Mary Ann Ladendorf and Pat Graf for their generous contributions to helping children grow to their potential.

Diane's Garden is now in the process of packaging school supplies for area students. Thank goodness for back-to-school sales as the number of people who need our help continues to grow. A special "thank you" to all those who made donations to help Diane's Garden meet the needs of those less fortunate.

While summer is a time to wind down and take a break, this is the time of year when Diane's Garden is getting busy collecting and delivering school supplies to children in our community. Diane was committed to helping all children grow to their full potential, and through Diane's Garden her legacy of love continues. Since 2011, Diane's Garden has helped 130 children have a good start to the school year. This effort could not have blossomed without the help of so many of you. We are thankful for your continued support in helping Diane's Garden grow. We will be posting more in the weeks to follow about how all of you are continuing to make Diane's Garden a reflection of the beautiful impact Diane's life made on so many people.

A special "thank you" to two friends of Diane's Garden, Scott and Terri Miller, who generously donated a variety of school supplies. During this busy holiday season, they took the time to provide for those less fortunate. Diane's Garden is grateful for friends like the Millers.

In this season of thanksgiving, we are reminded of how fortunate we are. We are particularly grateful for the kindness of our neighbors, Dean and Dana Goff, who have worked to keep Diane’s legacy of love alive throughout the past few years. Diane believed that one of the best gifts we can give is the gift of acknowledgment—of letting someone know that they matter. The Goffs’ recent donation to Diane’s Garden is a gift of acknowledgment not only to Diane’s life but to the lives of so many local families who need someone to acknowledge the challenges life has thrown their way. Thank you, Dean and Dana.
