⚠️ Heads up for 2026 health insurance ⚠️

The subsidy cliff is back. That means if your household income goes even $1 over 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, you could lose all help toward your Marketplace health plan and be forced to pay full price — potentially thousands per year.

Important reminder 👉 AGI ≠ taxable income. Marketplace subsidies are based on your total gross income before the standard deduction, not what you see at the bottom of your tax return.

If your income is close to the limit or changes year to year, let’s review it before it becomes an expensive surprise.

📬 Watch for Your 1095-A Form!

If you had a health insurance plan through the Marketplace in 2025, your 1095-A tax form is on the way and should arrive by the end of January.

This form is required to:
✔️ File your taxes
✔️ Reconcile the subsidies you received
✔️ Keep your health insurance subsidies going in future years

⚠️ If subsidies aren’t reconciled, the Marketplace can remove them—and if 2025 taxes aren’t filed, you won’t qualify for subsidies in 2027.

👉 Haven’t received your 1095-A by January 31st? Please wait until the end of the month, then contact us and we’ll help you get it.

🛂 Your immigration status matters when it comes to Marketplace health insurance.

To qualify for a plan and receive subsidies, you must have a valid, eligible immigration status—and your documents must be current and not expired.

We’re already seeing stricter enforcement, and many people have lost coverage because of missing or invalid documentation. 💔

✅ Green cards and student visas are the most common approvals, but other statuses may qualify too.

📣 Big changes are here—and they could affect your health plan.

Under the new “big beautiful bill,” the Marketplace is now using IRS data to verify your income and make sure you're still eligible for subsidies.

✅ Your plan is still active—for now.
But if you don’t file your 2024 taxes, or if your income estimate is way off from last year, you could lose your subsidy this year and might not qualify next year without proper proof.

🧾 Income verification is stricter now. Letters aren’t enough anymore—you may need pay stubs, a CPA letter, or your tax return to keep your plan.

There’s been a lot of talk about the new health insurance rule changes, but here’s what really matters:

👉 If your income and immigration documents are up to date and you’ve filed your 2023 taxes, you’re good to go!

However, a few groups need to stay alert:
📌 Immigrants with expiring or pending legal status

📌 Those whose 2024 income may differ greatly from what’s on their application
