When you started your business, it was to do what you’re great at and what you're passionate about. But somewhere along the way, you also became the bookkeeper and for some of you, the payroll processor as well. As a business owner, have you ever wanted to gift your employees a year-end bonus for an exact net dollar amount instead of an exact gross dollar amount? Often when this happens, you end up spending valuable time (and we all know time = money) trying to find the best gross figure to use that will get you as close as possible to the desired net amount, depending on each employee's tax deductions.

Well guess what? There's a better way! If you're using QuickBooks Online for your payroll, there's an option within it to process a "gross-up" bonus (or rather, a bonus for an exact net amount). When you choose this option, the system will automatically calculate the correct taxes needed for the employee to give them the correct gross amount on their check for tax purposes, but allowing you to gift them the net amount you want them to take home. It's super easy and super convenient, and still keeps you tax compliant for your employees and reports it all correctly on their year-end W-2s.

Hi! I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself and my company, and give you a little insight into what I do. My name is Jenny, and I'm the owner of JMC Books. A little bit about me personally: I currently reside in Parkville, MO, with my husband, our daughter, and our 3 dogs. I've been doing bookkeeping work for over 10 years now and I absolutely love it!

Now onto the business side of things: earlier this year, I realized my passion was to do bookkeeping work full time and to be a small business owner myself, much like so many of you. I took the leap of faith and decided to venture out on my own. I started JMC Books in July 2024 and haven't looked back since. But don't let the age of my company fool you; I have plenty of expertise in the bookkeeping world and I am confident I can handle your books for you! I am also licensed and insured. Some services I offer include, but are not limited to: accounts payable and accounts receivable, matching and categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, properly recording loan payments, creating and sending invoices, processing payroll, paying and recording payroll taxes, creating and filing quarterly and yearly tax forms, creating monthly management reports, and starting in January I'll be offering personal and small business tax returns.

Handling the money flow in and out of a business is not something that everyone enjoys. It can be frustrating and it takes up time you'd rather be spending doing something else.
