BetaStore , a tech-enabled B2B retail firm with operations in Nigeria, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast has closed a $2.5 million pre-series A fundraising round.

This financing enables BetaStore to expand into Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Cameroon, decentralizing its products and services to serve more informal sellers.

The funds were received from 500 Global, VestedWorld, and Loyal VC, bringing BetaStore's total investment to $3 million.

Small businesses use BetaStore to easily obtain merchandise and raise funding to help them scale their operations. The firm aims to access the above 10 million informal retail outlets that account for more than 90% of total essential goods trade; in Nigeria alone, more than 1,500,000 shops sell more than $12 billion in FMCG products.

Informal shopkeepers may order products using AI-powered channels such as SMS, WhatsApp chat, and other Apps, and have them delivered to their establishments, thanks to the platform co-founded by Steve DAKAYI-KAMGA and Leo Armel Tchoudjang.

Also, SimpleMarket Inc. (BetaStore.co) provides smart finance to these informal retailers, and they can repay loans, deposit money for operations, transmit, receive, and save money using the BetaStore wallet.

Investment in crypto & blockchain companies has gained more than in any previous year, owing in part to the investment arms of huge corporations already involved in the crypto business.

According to PitchBook, venture investors spent heavily on crypto start-ups in 2021, spending more than $27 billion globally as of late November, more than in the preceding ten years combined.

Many of the investments were made by the venture capital arms of crypto companies, businesses whose future success will be dependent on the ecosystem's expansion.

Crypto venture funds and companies are interconnected and tend to place bets across multiple categories, which makes them invested in one another’s success.

Sycamore.NG a Nigerian peer-to-peer lending startup has raised undisclosed seed funding to extend its operations.

Sycamore, which was founded in 2019, employs unique risk evaluation tools to award business loans the same day via its website and freshly announced mobile app.

White Hibiscus Capital (WHC), a US-based venture capital firm, led the unannounced seed investment round, which also included a number of additional private investors.

Sycamore will use the funds to raise market awareness, double down on its financial education efforts, and acquire enough engineering talent to expand its operations as it embarks on a strategy to expand to other African countries.
