Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Douglas Sklar

Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Douglas Sklar As a financial advisor, I believe proactive planning is the key to success. I have been with Edward Jones Investments in Omak, WA since July of 1992.

My job as a financial advisor is to be relentlessly solution-focused for the families that I have the privilege of working with. One of my responsibilities includes discussing solutions to problems and opportunities that clients are aware of as well as those that my 30 years of experience allows me to see that they may not. Prior to moving to Omak, I was an advisor with another firm in California.

Shortly after my wife, Jacque, and I moved to Washington, we had our son Stephen, who today is a successful Edward Jones financial advisor. Soon thereafter, we had our second son, Gregory. Greg currently is in law school at Seattle University and is heading in the direction of becoming an elder law attorney. His wife, Larissa, is in the early stages of starting her Edward Jones career with a focus on the Seattle market. In my practice, I believe that every person has a financial ship, and my clients are the captains of their ship. When we work together, I serve as the navigator/radar person. I do this by seeking to truly understand what is most important to them - whether they’re planning for retirement, investing the proceeds of a home sale or large settlement, or simply protecting the financial future of the ones that mean most. By taking the time to educate them on our established strategy and process, I help set a course for their goals. Finally, by proactively partnering throughout their lives, I continue my relentless solution-focus to help make sure those goals are reached. Because of our strategy and process, our team works with households from all over the country. I strive to impact my clients, my community, and everyone I come into contact with. My branch team and I look forward to serving you! Member SIPC.

📌 Office Closing Early Today

Today our office will close at 10:00 a.m. as our team dedicates time to long-range planning.

As I approach my 34th year with Edward Jones, I’ve been reflecting on a question: What will clients and their families need from a financial advisor not just five years from now, but 10, 20, or even 30 years from now?

The financial world continues to evolve. Technology changes. Expectations change. Communication changes. Yet the need for trusted advice remains.

Today we’re stepping away from our desks to think about how we can best serve not only our current clients, but their children, grandchildren, and perhaps even great-grandchildren.

I’d love your input.

What do you think future generations will expect from their financial advisor? What should never change? What absolutely must change? What services, technology, communication, or experiences do you believe will matter most to the next three or four generations?

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, send us a message, or mention it the next time we visit.

After all, the future isn’t something that happens to us—it’s something we help create.

We’ll be back on Monday!

As investors look beyond Middle East tensions, U.S. economic fundamentals are coming into sharper focus, driven by an accelerating AI investment and robust corporate profit growth, reinforcing the constructive case for equities. However, elevated inflation may keep rate cuts off the table and limit near-term progress in bond markets.

Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Wanted to be in the office by 5:45 this morning to get ahead of the day, prepare for client conversations, and create a little quiet thinking time before the world wakes up.

Instead, I got caught in a traffic jam… caused by a herd of deer casually crossing Dalton Road like they owned it.

Oddly enough, it was a good reminder. Work ethic matters. Showing up early matters. Preparation matters. But so does perspective. Sometimes life slows you down for a minute and reminds you to appreciate where you live, the people you serve, and the opportunity to do meaningful work every day.

Grateful for clients who trust us, for mornings like this, and for work that still motivates me to get up early.
