8 AM SAT | The tropical update this morning shows two areas we're watching. The first is what was once Tropical Storm Dolly that will move into the Bahamas by the end of the week. It could restrengthen back into a tropical system by then. The area in the Gulf is probably a little concerning to you this morning, but it will be moving WEST and not impact our area. I'll post futurecast showing that in a minute. Chances are low it will be much more than a rainmaker out west.

We are proud to support the Clearwater Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, and the men and women who give their time in service to our community.

Today, Squadron members are participating in the Discovery Academy of Science STEM Extravaganza, spending their Saturday engaging with students and families and sharing their enthusiasm for aviation, aerospace, leadership, and STEM.

Civil Air Patrol is often associated with emergency services and disaster response. When hurricanes and other emergencies affect our communities, these volunteers train to answer the call.

But their service does not begin when a hurricane makes landfall.

It also happens on days like today.

It happens when cadets are mentored, when young people are introduced to aviation and STEM, when future leaders are developed, and when volunteers simply show up to support their community.

A special thank you to Dr. Lori Beth Bradner, STEM Coordinator at Discovery Academy of Science, for bringing students, families, educators, and community partners together for today’s STEM Extravaganza.

The big change in Advisory 12 for Bertha is a watch and warning adjustment. The Tropical Storm Warning that had been in place east of the Okaloosa/Walton County Line in Florida has been dropped, as Bertha has moved past that area.

The storm itself hasn't changed much. Winds are still holding at 50 mph, pressure remains at 998 mb, and Bertha is crawling westward at just 5 mph, down slightly from 6 mph in the last advisory. The center is now about 50 miles northeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect from the Okaloosa/Walton County Line westward to Morgan City, Louisiana, including metro New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. A Tropical Storm Watch continues west of Morgan City to Cameron, Louisiana, and Lake Maurepas. Gradual weakening is expected as Bertha continues hugging the northern Gulf Coast over the next couple of days. Stay with us for the next advisory.
