East Harlem Business Capital Corporation East Harlem Business Capital Corporation (EHBCC) was a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation, est. 1997, providing economic and community development services.

EHBCC provided tools and training to help build and sustain small businesses. Through the Business Development Center, EHBCC offered small business loans and payment solutions; financial and management training; government filings, permits, certifications, and licensing consultation; and technical assistance. These services were offered free, or at low cost, to the general public (business loans w

ere limited to El Barrio/ Spanish Harlem according to Community Board #11 boundaries). Through the Uptown Works program, EHBCC offered creative placemaking consultation and solutions; arts and cultural development; advertisement; and "holistic" marketing campaigns for small businesses and community based organizations. EHBCC worked to improve the financial viability and quality of life in El Barrio/ Spanish Harlem from 1997 to 2014. Founded by the late New York State Senator Olga A. Mendez, and incorporated as a non-profit economic and community development organization, EHBCC established itself as a worthy and viable financial and business development institution in the community. As the founding executive director, Elizabeth Colón was instrumental in building the core operating components of the organization.
