Thinking about switching from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare?

There are specific times when you can make the change, and there are a few things you’ll want to understand before you do—especially prescription drug coverage and whether you can qualify for a Medicare Supplement policy.

In this video, I explain how switching back to Original Medicare works, when you can do it, and what to consider before making the change.

A lot of people ask me about which Medicare supplement companies have a stable rate history. They wrongly assume that that is a predictor of future rates. Trying to predict future rate increases on Medigap plans is a waste of time. In this video, I will share what to focus on instead.

🚨 Drop everything, because assuming it’s automatic is one of the biggest (and most expensive) mistakes you can make!

Here’s the hard truth: Medicare is ONLY automatic if you’re already drawing Social Security benefits.

If you’re still working, or haven’t claimed Social Security yet, the government will NOT automatically mail you a card. You have to manually enroll through Social Security during your initial window—or face potential coverage gaps and permanent late penalties.

What is the first step when turning 65 and signing up for Medicare? Here is the exact process to avoid coverage gaps and late penalties.

Does everyone have to sign-up for Medicare at 65?

Should you take Social Security at 62? Here’s what most people forget.

Do most agents push Medicare Advantage?

Maybe. 🤷‍♂️

But that’s probably not the real question.

Why do so many people choose them in the first place?

Simple.

Most people are drawn to the extra benefits.

Dental.
Vision.
Hearing.
Grocery cards.
Gym memberships.

On the surface, it sounds like an easy decision.

And to be fair, for some people, it absolutely can be the right fit.

But here’s where things get more serious.

What happens if your health changes?

What happens if you end up in the hospital more than expected?

What happens if your specialist is suddenly out of network?

What happens when prior authorization enters the picture?

This is why Medicare decisions deserve more than a quick commercial or a 15 minute phone call.

Every option comes with tradeoffs.

The important thing is understanding what you’re agreeing to before your health forces the issue.

Most people focus on building retirement accounts.

Far fewer understand how withdrawals can affect:
• taxes
• Social Security
• Medicare premiums

Retirement planning is more complicated than people think.

We’ve been sold the idea that retiring early is the ultimate goal.

But what if walking away from work too soon costs more than income?

A new study found early may accelerate cognitive decline.

Turns out structure, responsibility, problem solving, and interaction may be keeping more people mentally sharp than they realize.
