Labor Day is a good reminder that work shapes more than our income, as it usually dictates where we live too!
In fact several make their home decision mostly around commute time and then start targeting needs and wants as time in car can really add up.
Now for some… when there is a new job, or job transfer or perhaps a relocation - that happens to move you to a new city, one of the first questions that think is: Where is the best place to live and should I rent first or buy?
And there isn’t one right answer to this unfortunately.
If you already know where you’re going and expect to stay for a while, it may be worth comparing both options before signing a lease.
What would rent cost?
What would owning cost?
How much cash would each require?
How long would you likely stay?
And could your new income be used to qualify for the purchase?
If work is taking you somewhere new, make sure your housing strategy moves with you.
And if you need a lender to talk things through with that’s free and zero commitment, then let me know!
Have a safe and happy Labor Day!!
