New & Expanded Deductions You’ll Claim
These directly affect your 1040 tax return:

➤ Higher Standard Deduction
The standard deduction stays elevated and is now permanent (e.g., ~$15,750 single, ~$31,500 joint), continuing to shield more income from tax.

➤ New Temporary Deductions (2025–2028) To claim these, you’ll need IRS Schedule 1-A (a new form attached to your 1040):

“No tax on tips” deduction – Deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tipped income (phases out at higher incomes).

“No tax on overtime” deduction – Deduct up to $12,500 (single) or $25,000 (joint) for qualifying overtime pay.
National Association of Counties
Senior deduction – Taxpayers age 65+ can get an extra $6,000 deduction (temp 2025-28) that phases out by income.

These deductions may reduce your taxable income and boost your refund or lower what you owe.

If you’re claiming EITC (Earned Income Credit) or ACTC (Additional Child Tax Credit), your refund may be delayed because of the PATH Act.

✅ What the PATH Act does:
The IRS is REQUIRED to hold refunds with EITC/ACTC until mid-February to help prevent fraud.

📌 What that means for you:
Even if I file you early, the IRS can’t release the refund right away if you fall under PATH.
