November 10–14, we’re gathering a small circle of just 11 kindred spirits in Quito, Ecuador for five extraordinary days of cacao alchemy, sacred Andean ceremony, plant medicine, deep connection, and PLAY!

At the heart of this journey is the birth of HUMMINGBIRD — our newest Legacy Cacao creation, inspired by the sweetness, beauty, and joy of Ecuador’s cloud forests. 💗

And here’s the really special part… YOU get to be part of bringing her into the world!

We’ll go behind the scenes at our cacao production headquarters, taste the final recipes, create our own ceremonial chocolate blends, and journey into the ancient wisdom and living traditions of the Andes.

There will be hummingbirds, llamas, volcanic thermal waters, fireside cacao, beautiful ceremonies, and so much space to simply BE together.

After all these years of connecting through cacao from afar, I’m especially excited to finally gather heart-to-heart with some of you. 🥹

What makes Amazonian Gold unlike any other cacao? 🌿✨

It begins with wild origin—Fino de Aroma cacao from the Ecuadorian Amazon, the ancestral birthplace of cacao. Cacao varieties that are direct descendants of the oldest known cacao on the planet.

But cacao is only the beginning. We alchemize it with whole-bean vanilla, wild ishpingo (Amazonian Cinnamon), ginger and tiny, fiery ají charapita (the grandmother of all spicy peppers). We ground the energy and brighten the flavor with mineral-rich panela made from fresh sugarcane juice in the Chocóandino. And we make it strong: 22 grams of cacao in every 35-gram serving.

Behind the cup is something even more important: relationship. Our sourcing supports Indigenous-led agroforestry and creates direct, full-value income from cultivating native Amazonian plants.

Did you know vanilla comes from an orchid vine and takes 9 months to grow into a mature bean? It’s native to the Amazon (with dozens of varieties) and does have a natural pollinator - the orchid bee (Euglossini) 🐝. These bees require lush, primary forest to thrive in their full population. So even in special bioregenerative projects like this Shuar Aja in southern Ecuador, stewards of the land still assist with hand pollination to help ensure higher pollination rates. The Euglossini bees are present on the land, but their population is low due to neighboring deforestation and agrochemical use. Slowly but surely, community leaders are educating neighbors about the massive benefits (including long term financial gain) of natural agro-forestry and many are returning back to deeper relationship with the land, plants, animals and insects.
