📣 WHO SHOULD REVIEW THEIR MEDICARE PLAN DURING AEP?

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is October 15–December 7.

You do not have to change your plan, unless it is ending. If you have Medicare Advantage (Part C) or a Part D prescription plan, it’s important to review your coverage for 2027.

🔎 WHAT SHOULD YOU REVIEW?

📬 Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC)
Your plan should have sent this in September. It explains changes beginning January 1, 2027.

👩‍⚕️ Doctors & Hospitals
Are your doctors, specialists, and preferred hospitals still in-network?

💊 Prescriptions
Check every medication for: Coverage and formulary changes
• Drug tiers and copays
• Prior authorization or quantity limits
• Preferred pharmacy changes

Look beyond the monthly premium. Compare: • Deductibles
• Copays/coinsurance
• Prescription costs
• Maximum out-of-pocket costs

Dental, vision, hearing, fitness and other supplemental benefits can change for 2027.

❤️ HAS YOUR HEALTH OR MEDICAID STATUS CHANGED?

If you've developed a qualifying chronic condition—such as certain diabetes, heart, or vascular conditions—you may qualify for a Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP).

If you recently became eligible for Medicaid/Medi-Cal, you may qualify for a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP), depending on your eligibility and plans available in your area.

Your Medicare options can change when your health or eligibility changes.

💊 IMPORTANT 2027 PART D CHANGES

For 2027, the standard Part D out-of-pocket threshold is $2,400, and the standard deductible is $700.

That makes reviewing your prescription coverage especially important.

📢 *Important Medicare Update: Why you shouldn't wait to review your coverage this year!*

Did you know that Medicare Advantage plans can actually "close their doors" to new members if they get too full?

Under current CMS guidelines that are new for this AEP, insurance companies are allowed to set a pre-approved *Enrollment Capacity Limit* on their plans. If a highly popular plan hits its limit during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), it can stop accepting new applications immediately---even before the December 7th deadline.

Here is what you need to know to stay ahead:

*First-Come, First-Served:* Plans with these caps must accept applications in the exact order they are received. Once they hit their limit, they close.
*Current Members Are Safe:* If you are already enrolled in a plan that hits its cap, you will not be dropped. This rule only impacts *new* applicants trying to get in.
*Beat the Rush:* If a top-rated or highly competitive plan in our area is a good fit for your health needs and budget, submitting your application early in the AEP window is more important than ever.
