African-Americans Corona Virus and Type 2 Diabetes
According to a U-M Study, African American patients are more likely to be hospitalized with the Corona Virus compared to White patients with same underlying health conditions.
In addition, the study also found that kidney disease, and Type 2 Diabetes and living in density populated areas also contributed to Covid-19 hospitalization for African-Americans.
November is American Diabetes Recognition Month. This month and months to come, there are ways to be proactive to increase the quality of life.
Paul Ellis, a patient with Type 2 Diabetes noted that he has had the disease for years, but has learned to lose weight, exercise and consistently take his medication. Self-care is the key to getting and remaining stronger when patients are managing and coping with strategies to improve quality of life.
