Medicare has historically excluded coverage for medications used solely for weight loss, until now. On July 1, the new “GLP‑1 Bridge” program launched, providing coverage for select GLP‑1 medications (Foundayo, Wegovy, Zepbound) with a $50 copay.

This benefit is separate from traditional Part D, and will not coordinate with either a stand‑alone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage. For example, the $2,100 maximum out of pocket will not be reduced by these $50 copays. Members will also need to meet clinical eligibility criteria, and some early rollout challenges are expected, but this change is poised to generate significant attention in the coming weeks.

The ACA Marketplace open enrollment period is in full swing, running from November 1 to December 15. This is the time for individuals and families to renew or enroll in 2026 coverage, for coverage starting January 1, 2026.

This year brings some key challenges:
🔹 Enhanced subsidies are set to expire, which could impact premiums for many enrollees.
🔹Several carriers in Wisconsin are exiting the market or reducing their county coverage areas, limiting plan options in certain regions.

We were thrilled to celebrate our friend, Third Ward visionary, and MKE Benefits cofounder Andrew Wadsworth last night at the dedication of the sculpture honoring him via his iconic glasses in Catalano Square.
The evening was capped off with a toast as the Hoan Bridge was lit up in his honor, a truly fitting tribute to Andrew.
A huge thank you to Tracey Wadsworth for making this all happen, along with artist Brandon Minga and everyone at House of RAD, as well as all of the generous donors who brought this meaningful project to life!

The MKE Benefits team had an absolute blast during our summer social on the Pontiki last night! After the workday wrapped up, we set sail to explore Milwaukee’s beautiful rivers — the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic — with great food, cold drinks, and even better company.

Proceeds from the event, including the silent auction and paddle raise, support free arts education programs for students and communities across Milwaukee through Arts @ Large.
