Katahdin Federal Credit Union was originally chartered sixty years ago, in 1954, as a single employer credit union for Great Northern Paper. Since that time, KFCU has expanded from a single sponsor credit union to a community based institution serving Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties and parts of southern Aroostook County. Since its inception, Katahdin Federal has always gone above and beyond to serve the people of the region and today its staff continues to go the extra mile for its’ members!

We recently awarded $10,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools!

Each year, scholarship opportunities are made available to help local students take the next step toward college, university, or technical school. Scholarships are offered through several area high schools, with additional opportunities available to eligible KFCU members and their families.

Through the Ending Hunger campaign, we were honored to award $17,241.00 to several local organizations making a meaningful difference across our region:

Scam messages are getting more convincing, especially the ones claiming you’ve won a lottery, prize, or gift card.

Here’s a good rule to remember: if they’re asking you to pay a fee, click a suspicious link, or hand over personal information to claim your “winnings,” it’s a scam.

A real prize shouldn’t come with pressure or strings attached. If you never entered a contest in the first place, that’s another major red flag. Take a second before you click. Scammers count on people reacting fast.
