Sole props, single-member LLCs, and S-corp owners - mark your calendars. The IRS "Q2" only covers April & May. Don't let the "Q2" name fool you since the deadline doesn't wait for June to end.

Missing estimated payments can mean underpayment penalties, and nobody wants that surprise at tax time.

Not sure if your books are in order before you meet with your tax preparer? That's where I come in. Send me a message and let's get your records cleaned up!

Let’s be honest for a second…

Your books are either working for you or against you and there’s no in between.

The good news? All of this is fixable. That’s exactly why having a bookkeeper in your corner isn’t just about keeping records, it’s about protecting everything you’ve worked for.

Because the truth is, most financial mistakes aren’t caught until it’s expensive. Let’s make sure that’s not you.

Save this or send it to a business owner who needs to hear it.

If you’re using QuickBooks + an online payment processor to collect invoices, there’s a good chance your books have this mistake right now. 👇

When a client pays your $1,000 invoice and Stripe (or PayPal, Square, etc.) takes their cut, most business owners only record what hits their bank account.

But here’s what you should be doing instead:
✅ Record the FULL invoice amount as income ($1,000)
✅ Record the processor fee as a separate business expense ($29)

Why does it matter?
→ Your income is accurate
→ You get the tax deduction on every fee
→ Your books actually make sense at tax time

This is one of the most common bookkeeping mistakes I see with small business owners, and it’s a super easy fix once you know about it.

There's no shame in DIY bookkeeping - but is it still working for you?

At some point, what once worked starts to cost you more than it saves - in time, stress, and missed opportunities.

If you're nodding along to any of these signs, it might be time to hand it off to someone who does this all day.

I'm Ashley, and I help solo business owners and nonprofits in PA (and nationwide) finally get a handle on their books, so you can have the peace of mind your books are handled with expertise.

Happy 1st Birthday to Tally Bean Bookkeeping!

Last year I took an entrepreneurial leap of faith.

The highlight reel includes:
- 5 cleanup projects completed
- Over 100 social media posts
- 8 new recurring clients onboarded
- 5, 5-star Google reviews
- 2 onsite client visits
- Serving small business owners and nonprofits in 7 different states nationwide, including 3 within my local PA community

What you didn’t see:
- many long nights after my kids went to bed
- countless hours of educational training
- overthinking why a potential client ghosted me
- self doubt when showing up on social media
- lack of confidence initially even though I had over a decade of educational and corporate accounting experience
- calling my twin sister wondering why I didn’t have a new client in 3 months
- the Mom guilt when working

Many times we only see the highlight reel so this is me being real and showing that building something takes work, it takes consistency, and it takes believing in yourself.

I’m grateful to all my clients for trusting me, the people I've connected with on social media, and also for the support of my family - they’re my biggest supporters and Tally Bean hype squad. You all know who you are ❤️

One year in and I’m proud of the way I’m serving clients. More importantly, I’m proud of the way I’ve structured my business to serve me in this season of life.

Cheers to year 2!

A small business’s books hadn’t been looked at in over 2 years.

They had no idea if their business was actually profitable. No idea if they were pricing their services accurately.

Here’s what I found:
Missed payroll tax payments they didn’t know about.
Expenses that had been bleeding money for months that nobody noticed.
Large fees from payment processors which were taking their profits.

The value I delivered?
Real clarity on where the business actually stood.
A plan to catch up with the IRS before it became a bigger problem.
Expenses we could cut immediately to improve their margins.

Two years of avoidance. Cleaned up. Done.

This is exactly why I do what I do. You can’t make good decisions about your business if you don’t know your numbers.

Business isn’t static. It’s ever changing - every time you land a new client, have a personal life change, or pivot your goals.

Most people think a bookkeeper is just for data entry or only for tax season.

But the real value? It’s the human on the other end of the line.

It’s having a professional partner you can actually talk to when:
- You have a “What does this mean?” moment
- Your business hits a growth spurt
- You need to close the laptop and just be “Mom” or “Dad”

Partner up with someone who values the human behind the business. (Link in bio)

Most business owners don’t realize that QuickBooks keeps a digital "paper trail" of every single click, save, and delete.

Navigate to the Gear Icon > Audit Log.

This is helpful for yourself but also if you have an assistant, a partner, or a linked app making changes. The Audit Log identifies exactly who performed the action and when.

If a balance looks "off" suddenly, this is the detective tool that finds the culprit!
