Not one of them went viral. But all 100 got posted. That's the same consistency I bring to your books. It beats intensity every time.

I'm training for a half marathon right now, and it's the same lesson there too. No single run gets you to the finish line. The Tuesday runs you didn't feel like doing? Those are the building blocks.

Bookkeeping works exactly like that. Nobody notices consistency while it's happening. You notice it later - when tax season isn't a panic, when the loan officer asks for financials and you send them in five minutes, when you actually know your numbers before making a big decision. When you run your Profit & Loss each month, set it to display by month (columns side by side). Trends and anomalies jump right out - a vendor charge that doubled, a month where income dipped, a subscription you forgot to cancel.

You passed the bar but nobody taught you legal-specific bookkeeping. And if they did, it didn’t stick.

What I see a lot with law firm books: trust funds getting treated like income. IOLTA accounts that haven’t been reconciled in months. No client ledger trail if someone asks where their money went.

That’s a bar complaint waiting to happen.

Trust accounting has its own rules - three-way reconciliations, earned vs. unearned fees, client liability sub-accounts.

Sole props, single-member LLCs, and S-corp owners - mark your calendars. The IRS "Q2" only covers April & May. Don't let the "Q2" name fool you since the deadline doesn't wait for June to end.

Missing estimated payments can mean underpayment penalties, and nobody wants that surprise at tax time.
