Attended Nelson County Sheriff's Department and Farmers & Merchants Bank’s presentation of DON’T GET SCAMMED! last night. Good presentation, good take home material and good conversation. Lots of take aways but below are a few.

It is always a scam if your asked to; buy a gift card, allow access to your computer, wire money, don’t tell anyone.

Great statements from Tanya, ND Consumer Commission - Caller IDs do not mean anything anymore - The Do Not Call list is a mechanism and is held up by the honor system, scammers do not care - Never choose an option on a phone recording, it’s only verifying the phone number. Scammers are using AI and all the scams are getting super sophisticated.
To date in 2023 North Dakotans have been scammed out of more than 2 million dollars.

I would also like to add, use complex passwords for all your accounts and rotate regularly.

Vasichek Insurance was in Devils Lake today presenting at the Progressive Agriculture Safety day.
150 - 5th graders visited our presentation on ATV safety. Always a great day to promote safe motor vehicle operation.

What a fun weekend. Sunday Tri-County Snowdusters put in a blast of an event with a raffle, small kids ride and older kids ride. Then a group of BIG kids got a ride too. Then finished with a great football game. Great things going on locally!

Today Vasichek Insurance was invited into Mrs. Forde’s class at Dakota Prairie High school to talk to Juniors and Seniors about Auto Insurance. The class was consumer math and we discussed liability limits, physical damage coverage options and factors effecting premiums. The group was very engaging and inquisitive. The students chose their vehicles, home location and their profession, now Vasichek Insurance will be providing them with realistic quotes to discuss.
