I have worked in Western healthcare system for 40 years. Flossing after every meal cleans your teeth, but it will not prevent bad breath if your halitosis stems from poor digestion and food stagnation. This condition is often triggered by rich, greasy, or spicy foods, alcohol, or emotional stress, which can cause gastrointestinal heat, mucosal irritation, and inflamed tissue. The digestive tract needs clearing, cooling, and a protective coating:
• Clearing: Barberry fruit
• Cooling: Spearmint, peppermint, or chamomile
• Protective coating: Ribwort plantain or broadleaf plantain
