"You did not submit a mileage log"
Those are the words that nobody wants to read, but it can happen and I just witnessed it! A client (not mine) just had their auto expenses completely DISALLOWED due to lack of not keeping a mileage log.
I preach this to all of my clients: YOU HAVE TO KEEP TRACK! For some people, that can mean a couple hundred dollars...but for others, like this client, it could be tens of thousands of those dollars instead...
I'm not promoting anyone one app or method, but I am promoting the need for recordkeeping in whatever form it takes. Mileage, date, destination, and business purpose- just remember that this information is REQUIRED for each and every business mile you claim.
So next time you go to get in the car and drive for business, make sure you not only fasten your seat belt and check your mirrors, but also check your mileage log 👍

What do you specialize in?

Well, isn’t that a loaded question?

I have gotten in the trenches and worked with several different trades and organizations over the years: from medical/dental practices to real estate rentals (both commercial and residential) to real estate flipping to restaurants to nonprofits to beauty salons to skilled trades to retail to manufacturing (yes, that even includes the ma*****na industry)-the list goes on! Tax Season is over and for most people it marks the end of a hectic time of frantically gathering receipts, bank statements, and other tax documents and then trying to put them in some sort of cohesive order so that your tax person doesn’t charge you an arm (and a leg?!?!) for sorting things out- and all while hoping that you actually managed to remember all the business transacted during the 365 days which comprised 2025. Sound familiar?

Fortunately for 100% of my bookkeeping clients this was NOT the case because they spent the holiday season enjoying family and friends- and the month of January recovering from them 😉 All because the hard stuff was already handled- by me.

Extend to me an invite to act as an "accountant user" with your current booking software. Don’t have software that you use? No worries, I can help set you up with an affordable option that works within your needs!

Step Three:
Once a month (or quarter- depending on your needs), send over the business bank, loan, and credit card statements for the prior period, along with notations on anything new for the period.

Step Four:
Oh wait, that's it. You're done and I'm handling the rest.

OUTSOURCING IN TAXES? You might not be aware but many firms (both big and small) are starting to outsource payroll, bookkeeping, and even tax preparation to widen profit their margins and help with volume flow. Many of these firms are even going outside the US for their outsourcing. I am not going to dive into the various opinions on overseas outsourcing, that’s not what this is about. I just want to bring awareness that this is happening in the first place. Your specialized, educated, and (hopefully) licensed professional might just be someone reading off a script in a call center, or even AI!

I want to make you aware that I will NEVER outsource my work. You will always get personal attention from someone who knows who you are and wants to help you and see you succeed in life. I hate to break it to you, but 99.9% of what you have heard about the new tax changes for 2025 filing is FALSE. It might be close enough to the truth to just be one shade off, but false is still false no matter how much it smacks like reality. ✌️

That said, tax professionals like me do this for a living. I have studied these laws to the detriment of my social life so that my clients can hand me their information at the end of the year and not have to think about it again. That’s priceless peace of mind if you ask me 😉
