He entered the financial services field after a successful career in college and professional athletics. He attended Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Texas, and then played college football at the University of Houston. He was later drafted by the New York Jets in the National Football League

. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Denver Broncos, and later played with the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe, the Las Vegas Outlaws in the XFL, and the Ottawa Renegades of the CFL. Chuck has remained involved in various NFL outreach programs including the NFL Alumni Tackling Reading Initiative and the NFL Caring for Kids programs.
