What started in a small church with a big heart is becoming one of Madison’s most important community hubs.

Meet Eastmorland Community Center, a place built on connection, access, and collaboration on Madison’s east side.

For years, Common Grace served as a gathering place for community groups. In 2021, that spirit was formalized with the creation of ECC.

Rooted in values of arts, education, and social justice, ECC exists to support community-led groups and programs offering a gathering place for people to come together and build connections.

Today, that vision is becoming physical reality.

Plans to transform “the Triangle” are now underway with a plan to bring a new community space to life. The project will also include 26 units of housing targeted at 80% of Dane County AMI to assist Madison’s housing crisis while expanding access within the Eastmorland neighborhood.

And even during construction, ECC remains deeply engaged in food justice work with their mobile pantry serving an average of 40-60 families per month.

Health equity work in Wisconsin looks different when the people closest to the issues are leading it.

Embolden WI has spent two decades amplifying voices and catalyzing programs that drive health equity across Wisconsin. From youth-led advocacy to policy change centered on marginalized communities to fiscal sponsorship for emerging nonprofits, Embolden’s impact meets people where systemic change is most needed.

One of their core programs, Providers & Teens Communicating for Health (PATCH), works to improve adolescent health and wellbeing alongside and in true partnership with youth.

Their goal is to make sure teens have a voice – in health care settings, in the initiatives that shape teen health, and in their own lives.

The foundation for PATCH is meant to shift the perspective that health care practices, programs, and policies should be developed with young people rather than just for them.

Embolden WI also builds bridges between teens and other community organizations to meaningfully engage them within their projects.
